Honey Hounds

Funky Blues with Floridian Soul | 6 PM - 10 PM

The Jacksonville Beach-based funkadelic-blues trio Honey Hounds is making waves through the Southeast and beyond with their unconventional and habit-forming interpretation of classic American blues. Singer, songwriter, and guitar-picker Nicholas Izzard was sharpening his craft busking on the streets of St. Augustine, Florida in 2015 when he reconnected with his childhood friend, Tyler Watts, who was filming a travel documentary on his sailboat in The Florida Keys. With Watts on percussion, the duo got busy recording a soundtrack in the musty cabin and in friends’ closets, and Izzard moved aboard the 46-foot vessel in Key West. Fellow Ocala native and hometown friend Nathan Ranew saw them perform at a music festival later that year under the name “N.W. Izzard,” and convinced them to move to Jacksonville Beach. Under his management, he implored, the band could take advantage of the bountiful gigs and the party town and continue to build their cult-like following. After playing one of the last shows at the infamous Freebird Live, releasing their debut album, “No Sleep,” and chiseling their place into the local music scene, manager Ranew transitioned to bass guitarist. Honey Hounds were born. Since that time, the Honey Hounds have released an EP, “Midnight Magic,” and performed in front of crowds as large as 50,000 people. They’ll be embarking on the “Steady Buzzin’” nation-wide tour this summer ahead of singles to be released in August and September, and a full-length album in October. The Honey Hounds can be found on all online music platforms and streaming services. Visit HoneyHoundsMusic.Com for tickets and tour dates.
